EUS (Endoskopik Ultrasonografi)

EUS (Endoscopic Ultrasonography) is an advanced imaging technique that combines endoscopy and ultrasound technologies to provide detailed visualization of the organs and surrounding structures of the digestive system. It plays a crucial role in the early and accurate diagnosis of diseases affecting the stomach, pancreas, bile ducts, esophagus, and intestines. In addition to imaging, it also allows tissue sampling (biopsy) during the same session, accelerating the diagnostic process.

Technological Infrastructure and Application

The EUS device operates through a flexible endoscope equipped with a high-frequency ultrasound probe at its tip. During the procedure, the endoscope is inserted through the mouth or anus to reach the target organ. The ultrasound probe provides high-resolution imaging of the gastrointestinal wall, nearby lymph nodes, vascular structures, and deeper tissues such as the pancreas.

EUS also enables fine-needle aspiration biopsy (EUS-FNA), allowing tissue sampling from suspicious lesions for histopathological examination. Thus, both diagnosis and staging can be safely performed in a single session.
